Shine bright like a... Unicorn?

Hello my lovely loves!

Here's a piece I did recently for a friend of a friend. He'd been having a rough time of it recently so my friend asked me to create something unicorn related to remind him how FABULOUS he is.

I'm so pleased with this one I've just got to turn it into cards.

I give you Sparkle Unicorn...

Detective Portraits: Sherlock and John

Hello my lovely loves!

I've wanted to do a series of detective themed portraits for a while, especially since my Mum's been gathering autographs of all my favourites for me for a "Wall of Crime", so I thought I'd kick off with Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

There's so many iterations of these characters, and eventually I'd like to do a few different ones (particularly the Elementary depictions, because those are great) but it seemed right to start of with BBC's Sherlock's versions, as I did a series of So Shit Sherlock images, illustrating why I'd make a rubbish Consulting Detective.

So here are Sherlock and John as portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Enjoy.

My Funny Valentine

Hello my lovely loves!

Here's a little Valentine inspired by HOMwork - an online collective that sets a new brief every week.
It's actually primarily for lettering, but this week's was around the idea of an unusual Valentine - something that started in a predictable place, and ended up in an unpredictable one.

So here's a little card design with a little surprise on the inside...

Christmas cards are go!

Hello my lovely loves!

Today's post is to let you know I'm raising money for the homeless charity, Crisis, by selling some Christmas cards!
The rest of the year I try and give money to ME charities, as obviously that's a cause very close to my heart, but at Christmas I think it's only right to give money to those who struggle most throughout the winter months.
I think it probably harks back to my Mum telling me harrowing stories as a child like the little match girl, and one of her own invention where a young child didn't have any shoes. Guess those traumas turned me into a decent person though, so go Mum. Mad parenting skills.

There are two designs available this year, and you can buy packs either of one design or both.

The designs are called Christmas Hugs, and Christmas Survival kit. I basically tried to cater to these two groups with my designs...

Packs come in singles, 6s and 10s. Singles are £3, packs of six are £6 and packs of ten are £9.

You can also add a glitter add-on and have a number of your cards sprayed with a beautiful iridescent glitter.
10% of the card and glitter profits will go to Crisis. I've broken even now so basically 10% of whatever you spend.
If you'd just like to donate there's a listing in my Etsy shop for that - obviously the whole amount of any donations will go to Crisis.

I'm currently shipping to the UK, ROI, Canada, the US, Australia and France, but if you live somewhere else and would like some cards, contact me directly and I'll work out costings for your country.

To buy some cards, head to my Etsy shop.

Inktober and Pillow Fight

Hello again!

As I'm still not up to participating fully in Inktober this year, I challenged myself to created a Halloween GIF to share instead. I had to work on it much earlier than October, but shhhhhh.
It was also a bit of a challenge to try and draw myself in a different way.

I've noticed that I have a tendency to draw myself as gawky and awkward, and, despite the fact I'm pretty curvy, I always downplay this angle of myself. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's also probably not how I'd draw someone else with my body shape.
I also always draw my face with a squinty-eyed grin, as that tends to be my default expression around other people. I decided to change that as well.

So in the interest of trying new things and being more body positive, and trying new things, I give to you my witchy self-portrait, featuring my beloved Jessicat Fletcher.

In other news I'm taking part in the Ohh Deer Pillow Fight this year, so if you'd like to buy one of my limited edition cushions head on over to https://ohhdeer.com/competition  - one of my cushions is currently in third place!
I'd also really appreciate if you would vote for me - I'd love to work with Ohh Deer on a more regular basis, so it'd really help. Here are the designs you'll find on their competition shop...

Per Aspera ad Astra - From Hardship to the Stars

Hello my lovely loves!

A hand lettering piece for you today, on a mantra I've taken up since I've been sick. My lovely friends had this engraved on an iPod shuffle for me after my original one broke.

I'll be creating prints and other items featuring this design so stay tuned.
